Young Neil: Oceanside Countryside (1977) [Digipack / CD]

World Record is produced by Rick Rubin and Neil Young, and Neil is accompanied by his longtime band, Crazy Horse (Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina, Nils Lofgren). The album features 10 new Neil Young compositions (plus a short reprise of one song) and was mixed to analog tape at Rubin's Shangri-la studios using a selection of vintage instruments and equipment.

RAGGED GLORY (1990) was a non-stop celebration for the music Neil Young & Crazy Horse are still creating at full force, and was recorded at Young's Broken Arrow Ranch in Northern California. The 10 song original album is expanded for this re-issue with 4 rare tracks. "Interstate" and "Don't Spook The Horse" were both b-sides to singles. "Box Car" and the 12 minute "Born To Run" were both previously unreleased versions prior to release in the ORS 5 box. The 4 additional songs have resulted with the album expanded to 2 CDs. The album was remastered from the original analogue tapes.

This new collection of Neil Young with Crazy Horses; earliest recordings include several original versions that have not been released before, and along with the 7-inch Mono mix that was released in 1970 that includes a guitar outro not on LP version not on original LP version. <br/><br/>All the songs on EARLY DAZE sound and feel like a new beginning for where rock &amp; roll was going at the end of the 1960s. <br/><br/>The tide was turning on some of the psychedelic experimentation of the San Francisco bands, and moving towards a style of intricate songwriting and bands that were able to take the beginnings of folk-rock and find new ways to let it explode in different settings. <br/><br/>Neil Young with Crazy Horse were leading the charge in this completely expressive style of new music. It opened doors for a wide variety of new styles, and allowed a whole generation of musicians to find a new way forward. In many ways, that achievement.

What starts as one thing can often end up as another. For all those who have followed the singer-songwriter's ever-evolving career, it's best to let those changes happen.<br/><br/>With CHROME DREAMS, it has been a long time coming to this final version of an album that includes some of rock's most unforgettable songs. And now that it's being released on August 11 via Reprise Records as Young envisioned it. Now is the time for CHROME DREAMS to find its way into the world. As Neil Young hears and sees it.<br/><br/>The music included on CHROME DREAMS is the debut release of the legendary 1977 "Lost" album of 12 classic Neil Young songs, including four originals. The 1974-1976 studio recordings include two previously unreleased versions;<br/><br/>Four tracks never before released on vinyl and manufactured as a 3-sided double album with an etching on side 4.<br/><br/>The 12 songs on CHROME DREAMS may have existed in other forms at other times, and that is part of the creative process. Many of these are the originals. The summer 2023 release as it is coming to life now is exactly how Young perceived it and has a sense of monumentality about it that conveys a place in history. Songs like "Pocahontas," "Like a Hurricane," "Powderfinger," "Homegrown," "Stringman," and "Look Out for My Love" join six other tracks to finally present CHROME DREAMS as a guide into the world of a musician who leads the way into the future, never second-guessing what could have been. <br/><br/>Some of the historical lineage of the songs on CHROME DREAMS today include:<br/>"Powderfinger" is the early/first solo version, the original.<br/>"Pocahontas" is the same version that first appeared on RUST NEVER SLEEPS, but without the overdubs.<br/>"Sedan Delivery" and "Hold Back the Tears" are originals with lyrics that were not included in later released versions. Both are very different versions than previously released.<br/>"Stringman," is another original performance, included on the ODEON/BUDOKAN disc in ARCHIVES VOL. II; prior to that the song had only appeared on Young's UNPLUGGED album in a later version, not the original.
